Ironman 70.3 Singapore – the expo
Yesterday, as planned I fly down to Singapore using AirAsia. I took the early flight at 7:30am and landed at Singapore terminal 1 at 8:20am. I took my breakfast at the airport before heading to East Coast Park – the playground@BIGSPLASH.
According to today schedule, the participants are required to check in their bike to the transition area and to collect their race pack
The participating sports outlets. Even though only a few shops participates but all their sporting equipments are up to date.
The bike shop and rental at the playground@BIGSPLASH, East Coast Park. I would recommend to everyone to visit this shop and make sure you bring a lot of CASH or better credit cards. More choices, more choices and more choices !!! At this shop alone I spend around a few hundred dollars.
The bike mechanic at work. Services are provided to those participants who needs tuning to make their bike go faster (vroooooooom) and its not FREE !!!
Cervelo P4 – The fastest and THE EXPENSIVE bike
At the bike check in at transition 1 (T1)
Some of the bikes already check in. Some owners really do love their bikes and some don’t care less if their bikes are exposed to the heat and wet weather
The Swim to Bike Transitions area.
After 11am, I’ve decided the leave the expo area before I run out of cash and start using my credit cards and headed to Treknology Bicycle Shop at Tanglin Road, very near to Orchard Road. At Treknology, I didn’t buy anything. Its not because there nothing I want, its just that I don’t want to spend anymore on Triathlon stuffs. I have to control myself. There were a lot of Nike Cycling outfit and most of it you cannot find at the NIKE shop.
Remember this……I’ll be back again to Singapore…..SOON!!!!

Ironman 70.3 Singapore - Brunei Triathlete

Ahmad Fathi
6th Place Winner of 3rd Brunei Triathlon 2009.
A very fast marathon runner with a PR of 3:14:35
Keeran Janin
4th place winner of 3rd Brunei Triathlon 2009
A successful entrepreneur and a very fast swimmer
I was supposed to join and compete with them but due to work commitment (alasan), i have to cancel the plan but I will be coming down to Singapore on Saturday just to check out the expo. Hopefully I won't be buying anything that I might regret later.
Ironman 70.3 Putrajaya, Malaysia is coming soon in July/August 2009, I might join and see how I perform, then I can decide whether to compete in Ironman Langkawi 2010. 1st off-road Xterra Triathlon will also be held on 6th June 2009 in Kuantan Pahang, Malaysia. This is currently my priorities. I have to start training for my trail running and MTB skills
Good luck guys...................

I guess they're going to use the same trail as last year PSK. I hoped our Bruneian MTB and downhill riders will make an impact and took the challenge.
I received an email from a group of cyclists from Miri and they wanted to know the direction to Hutan Simpan Berakas (Berakas Forestry Reserve / Berakas Recreation Park)
Just open up wikimap – http://wikimapia.org/ and type Brunei on the search button and look for Berakas Recreation Park or you just can type the GPS coordinates
The GPS Coordinates: 4°59'21"N 114°55'19"E
If you’re driving from Miri, just follow the Main road from Sg Tujuh Border all the way to Berakas Recreation Park. It around 100km+++ and the direction is go straight from the border and follow the main HIGHWAY.
We are thinking of joining the competition since it is open to Bruneians and further more $10 registration. I know we are going to compete with the best mountain bikers from Brunei and not to mention from other ASEAN countries and for sure 100% gerenti kana 'sayur' or more precisely jadi 'sambal' tapi bila lagi masanya kan ikut yang bertaraf ASEAN. Kami ani bukan lah kuat sangat (kuat pun inda) kira bawah bawah lah..............................

3rd Brunei Triathlon - My Results
1500m swim - 53:20 mins - 11th : I'm the 2nd last out of the water in my age group and I guess I'm the last 10 out of the water because as I reached the bike rack, only a few bikes were still hanging. lousy swim route/marking especially on the way back.
40km bike - 1:14:28 hours - 10th: I should have put on more speed but just because I want to play it safe and save my energy, aku control control sikit. I've managed to 'sayur' a few cyclists including 1 in my age group. I'm happy when I know that i'm no 10th.......yahoooo.
10km run - 1:05:47 hours - 10th: By the time I reached T2 and getting ready for my run, it was already 9am and it was hot. My run was not as expected but I managed to run (at a slow pace). Luckily the first half of the run was under the shade. A few runners managed to 'sayur' me back including the guy in my age group. I was back to 11th place again. Bye bye my prize money. How am I going to catch him. After reaching the only water checkpoint, I ran, walk a little bit and run some more and walk again.....until to the finished line. At the top of the hill, I saw a guy walking 100 meters infront of me. So I ask the marshal what color is his BIB number and he said yellow. yeaaahhh.....I still have the chance to win back my 10th place. From there on I just follow him - walk and run with him (this is not the guy who sayur me just now, it's a different guy). He said he was tired and exhausted. After the last traffic light at the 4 junctions, I 've decided to run and get my 10th place winning.
Total time including T1 & T2 - 3:14:43 hours (Official time 3:14:42)
Ranking - 10th out of 12 in the age category 30-39 years old ( B$100 richer).....yahooooooo
Note 1: The guys in my group are very strong and fast and all of them are very good swimmer and cyclists. Well done guys. Hopefully next year I will be able to swim side by side with you guys.
Note 2: I'm happy especially with my bike ride and run. I'm just disappointed with my swim. I'm not going to blame the sea, its one of those things that we cannot control. strong currents with a few 'ombak' here n there. The marking of the swim course and explanation of the route should have been done better. With my swim time, it would be very difficult for me to participate in IRONMAN 70.3 apatah lagi the full IRONMAN.
I need to improve my swim time to 45 to 30 mins. I'm way to slow. Maybe I need a new coach.
