week 7 - 15/02/10 - 21/02/10
Tuesday - recovery
Wednesday - Morning cycling 30.88km
Thursday - rest
Friday - rest
Saturday - rest
Sunday - morning 120km bike ride
Testing the road bike race route 120km with the national riders and the rest of the cyclists was a very good experience. In a way, I'll know that next week will be more painful than today. It will be more faster and you will not know when they are going to attack, so have to be alert.
Today ride was controlled at a speed of 35km/h for the first 30km and the speed is increase to 40km/h for about 15km. After the third sets of 40km/h, I was already too tired and was way behind the group with few other cyclists. Thanks to Halid and Raihaan who keep on pushing us and helping us get back to the main group. At last, I have to follow the escort car from behind (drafting) just to get to the main group. Thanks to Coach Yafiz who was driving the escort car to help me to get to the main group.
Eventhough today test ride was a bit frustrating because I cannot keep up with the group but I'm still determine to join the race next week and I have registered and paid for it. Even more crazierrr, I have also registered for the XC MTB race the day before but that is another story - to do or not to do!!!
Good luck to all the racers especially to the ELITE team. Remember what the Coach said during the briefting, those who win will go the Saudi Arabia to race. So fight for the top spot.

Sg Akar recreational park.
This picures was emailed to me by Mike last November 2009. This site was used to be a main rubbish area where all the rubbish collected in Brunei Muara are dumped here. Now this place has been converted to a recreational park and currently not yet open to public. The main entrance / gate is guarded by a private security company.
It is located at the Sg Akar roundabout going to Kg Subok / Salambigar. From my house it is 20mins easy run, 10mins by bike and 5 to 7 minutes by car.
It is still an open area, not many tall trees. It may take 5 to 15 years for this place to be properly shaded with tall trees.
No visible footpath for walking, joggging, running or cycling. What you see is a cemented road for cars. Therefore it is not ideal to share the road with cars and runners.
While waiting for it to be officially / unofficially open, Just used other recreational parks.
Keep on waiting………………….

Saturday time trial test
The test was done at Lumapas to Junjongan bypass. 27km stretch of road. 13km from the Lumapas T-junction to the roundabout at Kuala Lurah near the Shell Petrol Station and back to the starting line at T-junction. 20 cyclists showed up for the test including the national team, Group 5:30 and other cyclists. Only one person used a time trial bike.
Since the test is being done somewhere far from the town. We have to go there by bike – 29km and this is also part of the warm up ride with an average speed of 28km/h.
The first to go were the junior riders and the elite fast riders will go last. One minute apart between each rider.
The senior riders at the back – all the pros waiting at the back.
The Coach checking on the time and finalizing the final time
The results. Out of 20 cyclists, I’m no 15th with a time of 47:25mins for a distance of 27km – average speed 34.17km/h and average cadence of 95 to 105. I’m very much satisfied with my achievements.
Fastest time was Raihan with a time of 40:19mins. So according to my calculator, Raihan average speed would be around 40.18km/h. I should take this overall results, put it in excel format and put down the average speed of every cyclists.
| Rank | Name | Time (mins) | Ave Speed (km/h |
| 1 | Raihan | 40:19 | 40.18 |
